Education

Joel earned both a Master's degree in Psychology and a Master's degree in Business Administration from the University of Groningen. His strong academic foundation has provided him with the knowledge and skills to understand and address complex organizational and leadership challenges.

Career

After advising more than 100 organizations and executive boards at the international consulting firm Hay Group, Joel decided to establish his own company, ‘Open Business Leaders’. This platform grew into the largest network for leaders of large and medium-sized organizations in the Benelux. Despite this success, Joel felt a lack of true meaning, which led to a profound transformation. This change inspired him to found Awake Origins, an international movement of conscious leaders and entrepreneurs. Awake Origins aims for co-creation from a state of awareness and accelerates the growth of its members. Joel also shares his insights and experiences through his weekly live show, ‘The Awake Origins Experience’, where he guides meditations and interviews pioneering thought leaders.

Personal

Joel has a deep love for nature and enjoys spending time outdoors. Currently, he resides with his family in Spain, in a place where the sea, sun, and mountains converge. He loves to venture off the beaten path and invites others to do the same during the retreats he facilitates. These retreats provide participants with a safe setting to move beyond their comfort zones and gain new insights. Joel believes that there is always a next level in personal development and sees every moment and every encounter as an opportunity for growth.
